3-Year Old Preschool Class Schedule

Our beginning class allows your three year old to work on age appropriate skills that they need. Our day is a blend between play -based instruction and academic learning. For play based learning the students have to opportunity to choose activities that they are interested in. The play-based classroom is broken up into sections, such as a home or kitchen, science area, water table, reading nook, space with blocks and other toys, art centers, and other areas. Teachers encourage the kids to play,  learn, and facilitating social skills along the way. We feel that this type of learning is vital to our young children developmental skills because they are using their own experiences to build upon their learning. This allows the students to build skills naturally with some guidance of the teachers. A small chunk of our day is teacher guided. Any many cases we believe that students are the best teachers but the need guidance when learning their names, numbers, and letters. We dedicate a small portion of our day to teacher guided instruction. Please don't think that these skills are not developmentally appropriate though. They are doing fun activities that have the students moving and grooving!

The beginning class is held on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:15 AM-11:15 AM

Advanced Preschool Class

Now, more than ever, students are expected to enter kindergarten with a foundation of basic leaning skills. Those students that start school prepared to meet those demands are more likely to become successful in the kindergarten classroom. At Cove Preschool that is our main goal for students that are placed in the advanced classroom. We focus a great deal of our day in learning academic skills as well emotional skills that they are going to need to transition into the kindergarten classroom. This structure allows students to focus more attention on the academic side of preschool rather than playing to learn. We focus on both math, language development, and readiness to read. Our goal is to have your student close to reading or be reading before they leave our program.

But we also don't want to take all the fun out of preschool. We still wan students the enjoy coming into the classroom and learning to play with their friends. We give an allotted time for students to participate in structure play. This allows the students to learn to play amount others as well as work on things that they also enjoy.
